D River State Recreation Site was recognized as the heart of Lincoln City, for residents and visitors alike. Interest grew in honoring and preserving the location as a "gateway" to our over seven miles of beaches.
Starting Point Design
Lincoln City Welcome Center has finished this stage
Initial overall design was created in partnership with Bearing Architecture. Discussions began around the plan's feasibility, areas in need of adjustments, and areas that promised to serve the city well.
Idea Gathering

Multiple outreach events were used to gather community input regarding the proposed Lincoln City Welcome Center. These ideas were analyzed and utilized to direct project elements and priorities.
IGA Approval by Oregon Parks and Recreation Department

Interagency Agreement signed by OPRD, granting Lincoln City lease approval for the wayside property.
Proposal Evaluations

Drawings were submitted by a number of firms with civic construction specialization and experience. City leaders vetted submissions and unanimously selected the plan created by Bearing Architecture in partnership with Bremik Construction.
City Council Consideration

Project proposal submitted for review and approval during session on February 24th, 2025.

Construction Process

Work will be done demolishing the current restrooms, re-creating a more efficient parking lot, and constructing the combined Welcome Center / restroom facility.
Welcome Center Opening!

Project completion, upon which both local and visiting populations can enjoy the new facilities. Information, both educational and attraction related, will be available for all who step inside. New, upgraded facilities will provide convenience for those who come to the site, whether during a workday break or as a vacation destination.
